Maternity Clothing choices for you and the family:
Simple goes a long way! I like to keep the focus on the subject; therefore, simple clothing choices are best for creating timeless portraits.
I suggest loose fitting solid colors; avoiding busy patterns or logos/words. Blue's Clues is cute for playtime, but can look out of place for you child's portraits. Jeans, overalls, sun/slip dresses; khakis are classics and photograph well. I especially like boys in jeans and plain tees, and girls in simple sundresses; weather permitting of course.
Hats can also be very effective; as well as other accessories such as scarves or funky belts. If children are being photographed together, clothes that are similar in style give a more coordinated look. Bare feet are especially fun, and kids love it too.
Family photographs are special, a legacy of whom your family was for future generations to enjoy. Clothing choices are just as important for family sessions, as other sessions. I highly suggest clothing for each family member that has the same tone, not necessarily the same color. Please be wary of strips, plaid, words, and logos on your family's clothing. These are things that can be a distraction from your beautiful family. Oh, and bare feet are great for family sessions too!
Clothing choices are important. As your photographer, I want you to see who you and your family is, and not just what outfit they were wearing. Clothing should compliment your look, not complicate it.
Mom to be- avoid wearing dark clothing this hides your belly and we are really looking for images with that gorgeous bump.
Newborns are typically photographed in the nude so no need to worry about their wardrobe, but if there is an item of clothing that you would like your newborn photographed in then please feel free to bring that along to your session and I will most definitely photograph the attire with your newborn.
